Relevé
Inspired by the folklore surrounding the 9 Ladies Stone Circle located in Stanton Moore in Derbyshire, Relevé paid homage to the rebellious hearts of women of all ages. Relevé was a temporary interactive art installation that existed for two months during the Radical Horizons: The Art Of Burning Man exhibit at Chatsworth House during the summer of 2022.
Relevé was fabricated using diseased larch trees from the Chatsworth House estate. Standing at 30’ tall, Relevé invited participants to contribute stories and notes to the facade of the structure. Besides public participation, Relevé was built with help from the local community as well as local school children from villages located in Bakewell, Sheffield, and Chesterfield.
Participants were also invited to use the space for performances, workshops, as well as community gatherings. Relevé was not only one of 3 art pieces to be built on-site during the exhibit, it was also the only art piece built to burn at the end of the exhibit on October 1st 2022.
The Radical Horizons exhibit took place from April to October 1st, 2022 and was free to the public. For more information about The Chatsworth House Estate and the Radical Horizons exhibit please click here.
